With a history of more than 450 years, Yamanaka lacquerware is originated in the Yamanaka Onsen area from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan in the 16th century.
The craftsman will cut the wood horizontally into circular wood blocks, and then cut out the amount needs to be polished vertically from the circle wood blocks. This greatly preserves the original appearance of the wood grains & textures. This also makes the lacquerware not easy to crack during the production process. The finished products of Yamanaka lacquerware are usually with strong and solid quality, yet with light weight.
Kiba Kobo, established in 1882, is the most historical brand of Japanese traditional craft Yamanaka lacquerware. The Motion Plate engraves the dynamic movement of the arc. Its elegant and streamlined shape, together with being stain-resistant, perfectly embodies beauty and function in this everyday tableware.
