This coffee cup and saucer set is a part of “Tableware・Tripware” series that won the MINO Ware new exhibition 2020 Grand Prix Award for its special design. The name "Tripware" originated from stories of the initial pottery leaving the kiln to become a tableware then returned to the kiln again to be renewed and the cycle continues. This cup and saucer are made by mixing clay with 20% soil from recycled tableware, born for achieving the concept of ceramics rebirth.
Mino ware, originated in the 7th Century, is one of the three major ceramics along with Arita and Seto ware. It is the largest ceramics production in Japan. The particular firing temperature can reduce the metal content so that it’s popular among people. In 1988, it was designated as a Japanese traditional craft.
